Interview and CV help

There are many online resources dedicated to helping prospective employees prepare a CV (curriculum vitae, or resume) or get ready for an interview. The United Jewish Israel Appeal (UJIA) website, based in the UK, provides a list of interview tips to ensure a great first impression. Their website can be found here. The Jewish Agency's Aliyah Job Center has a comprehensive menu of services, from guidance in writing a cover letter to job listings in Israel.

Israemploy and iDonovan provide CV counseling and the ability to post your CV online, with access to thousands of jobs in Israel. Both sites require fees for the use of some of their services.

Universities Offering Courses and Programs in English

I have compiled a list of English educational opportunities at other universities throughout Israel. You can find out more information about any of these programs by clinking on the links on the right-hand side of the page. Many of these universities offer full degree programs, leading to either a BA, a Master's, or a PhD. Some of the programs do not lead to degrees, but students can take them for credit or simply to enrich their learning experience. All courses and programs listed below are conducted entirely in English, unless otherwise indicated. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Tel Aviv University has a division dedicated to overseas students. Called the School for Overseas Students, it offers undergraduate and graduate programs. Nearly all of the graduate programs are conducted in English, and programs include Middle Eastern History, English Literature, and International Archaeology Program. In the Teach and Study program, students are trained in TESOL – teaching English as a second language. TAU also offers undergraduate programs – either for a semester, a year, or a degree program. Many of these courses are conducted in Hebrew, with students taking ulpan to strengthen their Hebrew language skills.

International MBA programs:
Both programs target managers and executives who have been in the work force for a number of years, and are seeking a competitive edge. It is also a good opportunity for olim to have a chance to become settled in their new land while using the time to further their career.
Tel Aviv University - The Kellogg-Recanati MBA program is offered jointly by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration at Tel Aviv University. Courses are taught by distinguished faculty from both universities. Upon completion of the two-year program, students are awarded a joint MBA degree.
Bar Ilan University – BIU also offers a one-year, highly regarded International MBA program. The program draws international students, as well as faculty from around the world. The program focuses on international business administration, and students integrate with members of the university’s other MBA programs.

At the Weizmann Institute of Science, students can study at the Feinberg Graduate School, which is the university’s educational branch. All courses are taught in English, and FGS is accredited in the USA and in Israel. Students can study in the MS or PhD programs. Studies include physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences, mathematics and computer science, and sciences teaching, which focuses on research and development in the teaching of science.

The Raphael Recanati International School at the IDC (Interdisciplinary College) at Herziliya, offers two graduate programs taught entirely in English: The MBA Entrepreneurship Program and the MBA in International Management. The International School also offers fully accredited undergraduate programs, allowing students to obtain a degree in three years. These programs are taught entirely in English, and include Business Administration; Communications; Computer Science; Government, Diplomacy & Strategy; and Psychology.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem-Rothberg International School offers an extensive MA program, offering seven different programs ranging from The Bible and the Ancient Near East; Jewish Civilization; Jewish Education; Religious Studies; Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies; Society and Politics in Israel; and Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies. Many of these programs are taught in English; contact the university for more details. The School also offers a Graduate Year Program, as well as an undergraduate program, which do not lead to a degree, but allow students to take courses for credit to transfer back to their home college.

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev offers programs conducted entirely in English, and students can earn a BA, MA, PhD, MD, MSc, or MBA degree. The Department of Foreign Literature and Linguistics offers a BA, MA and PhD programs. In the Department of Middle East Studies, students can earn a Masters of Arts. The Medical School for International Health, in conjunction with Columbia University Medical Center, offers an MD degree. In the School of Management, students can apply for the Honors MBA program. As part of the Blaustein Institute for Desert Research, students can specialize in one of five fields, leading to an MSc or MA degree. The University plans to offer an English-language MPH (Master's of Public Health) program as well.

At the University of Haifa International School, students can further their studies by enrolling for a semester or a year. This is not a degree program, but is fully accredited. Students who are seeking to enrich their learning or gain more experience before applying to a full graduate program can take courses in the subjects of their choosing. Students can participate in any of the University’s regular courses as well as the Honors programs. The International School has an undergraduate program as well, in which students can take courses and transfer the credits back to their home school.

At Touro College, students can take courses for transfer to another university. The College is accredited and offers undergraduate courses including Computers, English, History, Education, Business, Psychology, and Speech Pathology. Courses leading to Masters degrees include Mental Health Counseling, School Psychology, and Education. The College also offers a course preparing women to take the GED examination.
